no matter
what the weather
you are in an

with friends"

Aha! Moments

The interesting thing about Kate's suggestion about coaching is that coaching was not unfamiliar to me. Five years earlier, a business colleague became a coach and shared a lot of coaching resources with me. Three years earlier, an old friend of mine called me up and told me "I know what you need to be. A life coach! I have a life coach here in Texas and when she talks, it sounds just like you."

Now you might think those suggestions would have motivated me to pursue life coaching back then. They didn't. I was curious and thought, "nice idea", but they didn't jolt me into action. The time was not right. I had more work to do on my life path.

When I was sitting with Kate that day, the possibility of life coaching wasn't even on my radar screen. In my negative frame of mind, all I could see was what was NOT possible. My right livelihood was buried deep inside and I had no access to it alone. It was lying dormant, waiting to be re-discovered. Waiting to be called forth by someone who could truly hear me and not get enlisted by my gremlins. (My gremlins were having a major recruitment campaign that month!) Little did I know, but Kate was having a coaching conversation with me.

And wow, did she call my high self forth! You couldn't stop me. I couldn't get enough. I was on fire. That Aha! moment fueled me with such passion and clarity that I moved through the "work" of it as if it were pure play. I felt aligned with the Universe. In the flow. I surfed the Web for resources, took coaching teleclasses, interviewed coaches, hired a coach, became part of an intuition group, did more training, developed marketing materials.

On November 2, 2000, a year after that life-defining Aha! moment, I officially launched my life coaching practice. Since then, I have coached many women and men all over the world, including here on Cape Cod and as far away as Russia. Thanks to the modern technology of phones, email and instant messenger, my clients can be anywhere in the world. Remember how I was stuck in the impossibility of "how can I create a profitable business working with individuals and still living here on Cape Cod?" My intuition had solutions much bigger and better than anything I could have imagined!
